The Dubai World Challenge For Self-Driving Transport

The Challenge

The Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport is a key driver in realising the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make 25% of all trips in Dubai smart and driverless by 2030. In 2025, the challenge takes a bold step forward with the theme “Dubai Autonomous Transport Zone,” focusing on seamlessly integrating multiple autonomous transport modes within a dedicated urban district.

Hosted by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this multi-year international competition brings together industry leaders, start-ups, and academia to tackle real-world mobility challenges faced by global cities. With an emphasis on fully integrated autonomous ecosystems, the challenge is the first of its kind to be truly global, setting new benchmarks for the future of self-driving transport.
