Dr. Aravind Kailas serves as the Advanced Technology Policy Director at Volvo Group, leading North American public affairs activities for automation, connectivity, and electromobility. He is a recognized leader in autonomous vehicle and AI policy, shaping regulatory frameworks to enable safe deployment of AVs and advanced safety technologies. At Volvo, he led a $10 million initiative advancing real-world testing of connected and automated vehicles, including a pilot using AI-optimized traffic signals to reduce freight corridor emissions. He also spearheaded some of North America’s earliest truck platooning programs, laying groundwork for AV safety standards and informing early regulatory discussions. Previously, he held roles at QUALCOMM, DOCOMO, and GE, and has authored 100+ publications. He holds engineering and math degrees from Georgia Tech and Wisconsin.
